User Manual for Pulse Oximetry with
PocketViewer
Please hold your PocketViewer in your hands.
The PocketViewer turns on after touching
the
screen. That's why there is a cover for it.
Once you take the cover off to use the
device, please fix it on the backside. Take
care of it and don't forget it anywhere!
The same applies for the stylus. The stylus is for writing on the sensitive screen. Don't use any
other pointer. They can damage the screen. Once you don't need the stylus any more, put it back to it's place, so that you
don't loose it. Below the screen there is
a button "Off". Touch this button to turn off your PocketViewer.
The PocketViewer works with two AAA size
cells or batteries.
The endurance of the batteries is about
100 hours, depending on intensity of use. To
replace the batteries, turn off the device and slide the battery switch
to the "REPLACE BATTERIES" position, remove the battery compartment
cover and replace the batteries. After closing the battery
compartment cover, the switch should be put back to normal (right)
position labeled "NORMAL
OPERATION".
At the back of the device you will find the reset
button behind
a 2 mm hole. One can press it with the
stylus. If you want to reset, the device must
be on. After reset you have to calibrate the touch screen with four
touches at the marked places. You can answer
the question about contrast with OK.
Than you have to decide whether you want a hard reset. This will
delete all data, even the pulse oximetry application program. If you
answer NO, you will have a
soft reset. Once the clock appears, you can adjust the
time and date by tapping the clock. This type of adjustement is
normally completed with "Next" or "Set" button controls.
If a soft reset has no success, you can try a hard reset. This makes
sense only if you are able to install all the
application programs again. See description
under.
Tap the "Menu" button to choose an application
program for execution. It will show you a menu screen with
icons of all available programs.
The PocketViewer is equipped by Casio with many different programs. That's why the menu
has two pages, that you can choose using the double arrow buttons on the right
side of the screen. The page number shows
up as 1/2 or 2/2 on the right side of each page. The application
program
for pulse oximetry is named SPO2 and appears on the
second page. Tap on the symbol to start the application program.
Close the pulse
oximetry program. Tap the button "Menu" and afterwards tap "Off"
- the device turns off.
The PocketViewer comes with a serial connection cable,
with it you can:
- connect the PocketViewer to a PC.
- connect the pulse oximeter to the
Pocketviewer.
The small plug on the cable with the
inscription "Push" will be plugged into the enclosure right on the
bottom of the PocketViewer. Be careful: The plug mechanically locks in
position and can be taken off only after releasing the lock by pressing
the plug between thumb and forefinger. Then the lock comes free without
force.
For the installation and
update of the application program SPO2
download the file SPO2.bin. Besides that you need the
PocketViewer Application Manager PVM.exe for
execution on your PC. This software by Casio supports management of
applications, application data files and system updates for the
PocketViewer.
Save both files in a disk folder on your PC.
Connect the PocketViewer to a serial
interface of your PC. Switch on your PocketViewer and start the update with the button "Menu Bar" in
the right corner below the touch screen. Start the function "Option
->
Download" in the dropdown menu that appears at the top of the screen. Then the PocketViewer
waits for commands from the PC.
Afterwards start the application programm PVM.exe,
that you downloaded before. Choose under Comm Setup the serial interface,
that you used to connect the PocketViewer, and under "Speed" the baud
rate, e.g. 9600. With higher baud rates there may be data
transfer problems. Then you import the current PocketViewer setup using
the "Execute -> Import From PV" menu command. After a short data
transfer time you
will see a list of application programs,
that are saved in your PocketViewer. Mark
SPO2 with the mouse and tap onto the "-" button in the toolbar. After confirmation of the
question SPO2 desappears from the
list. It means you prepared removing
the old version..
Tap the "+" button in the toolbar and
choose the new SPO2.bin,
that you already downloaded from http://www.cadt.de
. Now you can add some text as comment, that will acompany the
application on your PV. You can leave this blank. After comfirmation
you start the PocketViewer software update using the "Execute ->
Update PV" menu command. The data
transfer takes about one minute.
Later the screen of the PocketViewer shows again the page with the
application menu (application icons). Go to the
second page and start SPO2!
In case of problems:
- The PocketViewer must be on.
- If communication takes to long, the
PocketViewer stops waiting. You can tap Menu Bar -> Options ->
Download again.
- The serial cable must be separeted from
the pulse oximeter and connected to the PC. Check if you are connected
with the correct serial interface, e.g. "COM1" or "COM2".
